A Fort Wainwright soldier has been charged with manslaughter in the 2016 death of another soldier in Alaska, according to the Daily News-Miner.
Spc. Ryan Alexander Robbins-Critchley and Pfc. Logan Scott Cote were driving in Robbins-Critchley’s Toyota Camry on Dec. 16, 2016, when Robbins-Critchley lost control of the car, according to the Fairbanks Police Department incident report.
The report states that the vehicle rolled down an embankment and Cote was ejected. The Daily News-Miner reported that motorists stopped to perform CPR on Cote before the Fairbanks Fire Department arrived. He was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Cote was a paralegal specialist with the U.S. Army Alaska Aviation Task Force’s 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, according to an Army Times article about the accident.
Robbins-Critchley suffered minor injuries, and the newspaper reported that alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
He was arraigned on Wednesday in the Fairbanks Superior Court, according to court documents. The trial is scheduled for the week of July 31.
Robbins-Critchley is a human resources specialist with the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, according to U.S. Army Alaska. He joined the Army in 2015 and has been stationed at Fort Wainwright since March 2016.
